The National Exhibition Centre or NEC located near Birmingham is one of the busiest exhibition centres in the whole of Europe. Opened during the colourful and bubbly 70's this distinctive exhibition centre gave a new meaning and a new twist to the exhibition scene of UK.
Europe's 7th largest exhibition centre, The National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham occupies a land area of roughly 628 acres. In February 1976 when it was first opened by the Queen, NEC comprised of 89,000 m2 exhibition space. 13 years later, three additional halls were opened by the Queen herself. With the new halls this Edward Mills designed building increased its total exhibition space to 125,000 m2. Gradually the National Exhibition Centre improved its outlook and increased its space. Today it boasts of 21 halls with a total exhibition space of 200,000sqm and is a prime location for famous concerts, sports events and even fashion shows.
NEC hosts approximately 160 consumer and trade exhibitions on an annual basis and more than four million people visit this extraordinary exhibition centre each year. It is estimated that over the past 30 years, The National Exhibition Centre has hosted nearly 2,500 events and has been visited by over 90 million people. During this period NEC has also generated £20 billion to the regional economy.

This outstanding exhibition centre has hosted some renowned large scale events such as IPEX, Spring Fair, British International Motor show, Clothes Show Live, Horse of the Year Show and British Open Show Jumping Championships.
However, the world famous international dog show Crufts is NEC's major highlight. The entire property is used for this show which is also the world's largest dog show with over 22,000 dogs put on display. Crufts alone attracts a total number of 160,000 people to NEC each year.
